I fear starting this newsletter with the pre-empted words of every other email you have received in December, or every conversation you endure with colleagues wrapping up the year that was... so all I'll say is in 2021, we learnt a lot, our patience was tried a lot, we feared a lot, but are moving forward with our new-found knowledge and connections for a brighter future in the Outdoor Industry.
Recently our members would have received our Christmas message in their letterbox and it noted some of these incredible insights for the future of our industry and how we will be working harder in 2022 to ensure we not only learn from recent challenges but provide ways for the industry and sector to face future challenges head-on.
I wish to thank our members for the support they have given us in advocating for their needs, for being part of the programs we have delivered and will continue to deliver in 2022. Thanks to the amazing alliances we have with the Christian Venues Association, Australian Camps Association, Business NSW, Canberra Chamber of Commerce and the Outdoor Council of Australia including all other state peak bodies.
To Karen Jones and her fabulous team at the Office of Sport NSW for all your assistance and drive for getting more people more active more often and supporting Outdoors NSW & ACT. To the NSW & ACT Ministers, Shadow Ministers for hearing our calls and working with us on solutions, we look forward to continuing these discussions in 2022. Thank you also to the teams at Destination NSW, Dept of Education (Schools, VET and Workforce Development), National Parks & Wildlife Service, Crown Lands NSW, Forestry NSW, Children's Guardian, SafeWork Australia, ACT Education Directorate, ACT Parks, ACT Sport & Recreation, Skills IQ, TAFE NSW and Take 3 for the Sea for being part of the Outdoors and working with us to produce more health and wellbeing outcomes for our communities.
Merry Christmas all
Lori Modde
CEO - Outdoors NSW & ACT
