The Outdoor NSW & ACT IR & RM Committee was formed in 2020 with the objective to:

Support the industry at times of incidents and help navigate the immediate challenges the situation presents.

Identify risks to the industry and help Outdoors NSW & ACT plan for, mitigate and prepare the industry for those risks.

Provide tools that can educate, inform and build capacity in the Outdoor industry when preparing for risks.
BRIEFING NOTE RE: LIGHTNING SAFETY
Following some research conducted overseas and the position taken by meteorological departments across the world, our Risk Management committee is recommending to use alternative safety procautions and not the 30/30 rule as indicated in the
Severe Weather Guidance note. We will update the industry of our progress of discussions with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
DID YOU KNOW WE SUPPORT ORGANISATIONS THAT HAVE HAD GONE THROUGH TRAUMA ASSOCIATED WITH OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES?
Stage 1
The Committee offers any Outdoor provider or organisation the opportunity to support in the initial phase of shock and reactions associated with the trauma.
Stage 2
The Committee are also able to assist in reviewing operational procedures within the organisation or activity to increase risk mitigation or improved operations.
Stage 3
The Committee also look at assisting with ways that future trauma can be prevented by others in the industry or sector, which may include reviewing national standards.
