Outdoors NSW & ACT is facilitating the 2024 MTB Symposium, to be held in Merimbula on 25 & 26 October, which is aimed at bringing together professionals, enthusiasts, and stakeholders from the mountain biking community.
The symposium focuses on fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and exploring the latest trends and developments in mountain biking, of which there are some significant challenges that need to be navigated and in partnership more can be done. It will include sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities designed for trail builders, tourism operators, local government representatives, event organisers, landowners and mountain bike clubs.
The Symposium would not have been possible with the great support of Strategic Partner Destination NSW. Destination NSW CEO Steve Cox said: “Destination NSW is thrilled to have secured the 2024 MTB Symposium for Merimbula in partnership with Sapphire Coast Destination Marketing.
“The event is expected to draw more than 200 delegates, deliver around 500 visitor room nights and an estimated $200,000 in visitor expenditure to the region’s visitor economy and further elevate its reputation as a world-class mountain biking destination.
“The Sapphire Coast is home to hundreds of kilometres of spectacular bike trails that traverse stunning wilderness locations, ranging from rocky terrain to deserted beaches and lush rainforests. I look forward to conference attendees from around the world having the opportunity to experience its magic.”
Outdoors NSW & ACT also welcomes Blue Sky Trails, a key supporter in the MTB space with years of experience in trail building and management. Blue Sky Trails will be sharing the role that data plays in creating sustainable cycling trails with examples for where data has created compelling stories that have underpinned positive conservation regeneration, climate resilient trail assets, economic growth, risk mitigation, and most of all high-quality user experiences.
“We are excited to partner with Destination NSW and welcome Blue Sky Trails as a key sponsor for this year's MTB Symposium,” said Lori Modde, CEO of Outdoors NSW & ACT. “Their support will enhance the quality of the experience for attendees, and what better place to have a mountain bike symposium than immersed amongst amazing mountain bike trails in Merimbula.”
