NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!

 

Currawong camp is our school holiday program just for high-school students that recognises their zest for individuality, their quest for self-expression and nurturing their adventurous spirit! They will spend almost a week at Wangat, creating their own experiences and community, under the passionate guidance of our professional Wangat mentors. The results will be life changing!

 

Our motivation is to create an experience that improves teen mental health and self acceptance.

activities

Packed with adventure, bush-camping and activities which develop life skills. Participants will spend 3 nights at Wangat Lodge and undertake a very special 2-night hike in the World Heritage Barrington Tops National Park, sleeping in tents, and much more.....

location

In dormitory-style single-sex rooms at Wangat Lodge, 20kms north of Dungog at 1938 Chichester Dam Road,
Bandon Grove

Ages

This camp is suitable for High School aged teens .Groups will be divided according to similar age ranges. 

Getting there

Wangat Lodge is a 3 hour drive from Sydney and 1.5 hour drive from Newcastle. Some teens opt to catch the train to Dungog Station where mentors shuttle them to The Lodge. 

food

All meals and snacks will be provided for the camp. Participants will be involved in the preparation and serving of meals

Leaders & supervision

The camp will be led by Dan Lyons, owner of Wangat Lodge, and qualified Outdoor Leader. He will be supported by 5 other staff

Other info

Wangat Lodge will provide all specialist equipment, including tents, sleeping mats, rain gear, hiking packs, etc 

 

All participants will be sent relevant info in due course which will include a medical request form and comprehensive ‘what to bring’ list.
n.b. Participants will be required to supply their own clothing fit for the experience.

The program is funded with assistance from Outdoors NSW & ACT through the Youth Resilience Program which has been funded as part of the Bushfire Community Resilience and Recovery Fund.
