Risk Management Reminders

With the tragic incident in Tasmania this week, Outdoors NSW & ACT would like to extend its condolences to all families and the community involved. Incidents like this are tragic at any time but the timing of the incident resonates through all of us and we can not begin to understand the impacts of this on the broader Tasmanian community.

It is a timely reminder to review ALL our business operations and the national standards to ensure our businesses are operating to a best practice model for all our activities.

  • Australian Adventure Activity Standard – and associated Good Practice Guides (australianaas.org.au)

  • https://www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au/

Outdoors NSW & ACT understands that our industry may operate inflatable amusement devices at times. An inflatable amusement device is fabricated from flexible materials and relies on internal air pressure to maintain its shape these may include Ninja Courses, Obstacle Courses, Jumping Castles, Inflatable Water Parks and the like. If your business has an inflatable amusement device it is a timely reminder to review the Safework Australia Website which includes;

  • Information sheet for inflatable devices (safeworkaustralia.gov.au) and the Australian Standard AS 3533.4.1 2005 Amusement Rides and Devices - Specific Requirements - Land-borne Inflatable Devices and its application to your business operation.

The National Audit Tool for Amusement Devices is also available here.

If you have any risk management questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, your Safework office or your Insurance Broker and risk adviser.
